  The Cove Room is OK but the food isn't great and the price is obscene for what you get. The atmosphere is uniquely different ( nostalgic) and the location is prime - that is what you're paying for. It's like stepping back in time which is neat and must be why it stays in business. I think this place has a ton of fond memories for elderly residents from their youth and they keep in business thru nostalgia.

  We were a party of 10 in the Terrace Room on a Saturday night. We shared platters of perch, French fries and onion rings. We also had portions of their bean salad and cucumber salad. The environment is boisterous and friendly, the staff is courteous and efficient. The food was terrific and everyone had a great time.

  Basically you're paying 30$ a head for mediocre food in a place that poorly feigns "upscale" but for the same price you could go to a truly upscale restaurant with amazing food and decor. My advice is to go to the Dairy Bar. It's 1/4 the price and the perch is 10x better. Or if you want that "upscale" feel, go to Callahan's on the Beach.

  The food is always good and the facility is legendary. Take some time to look around, and remember there are two dining rooms. The downstairs is a little more elegant but I don't believe there's a dress code.

  Frankly I don't get the hype. The salad bar is filled with some of the most grotesque "salads" you've ever seen (ambrosia for one). Their perch is OK but nothing special. Their steaks are expensive but taste cheap. Their kids menu starts at 10$ and goes up from there.

  The Erie Beach Hotel is famous for its perch dinners and celery bread. It isn't cheap, it runs about $17 for just 4 pieces with fries but the quality is excellent. There are other menu items of course like burgers but most people go there for the perch dinner. It is a large spacious restaurant with many servers so you get served quickly and efficiently. It is extremely busy during the summer. It is open year-round and offseason it continues to be busy as it is a favorite spot for locals. It is definitely family friendly.
